[Video] Replacing a Chipped or Cracked Floor Tile

Do you have a broken or cracked tile in your ceramic or porcelain tile floor? If you have some extra tile from when the floor was installed, you are in luck because replacing one or a few cracked floor tiles is not as hard as some may think. You can call someone to take care of this for you or save yourself a couple hundred bucks in a couple of hours.

You will need a few tools to get this job done:

  • Hearing and eye protection
  • Gloves
  • Drill with a 1/4 to 1/2″ carbide bit if your floor is ceramic; you will need a diamond bit if you have porcelain tile.
  • Small cold chisel
  • 3″ wide chisel
  • Hammer, a 4lb. lump hammer is best
  • Tape – masking or painters tape works great
  • Thinset mortar mix
  • Bucket for mixing
  • Mixing trowel
  • 1/4″ tile trowel
  • Sanded floor grout (matching the existing floor)
  • Grout float (not necessary for a small job)
  • Grout sponge

Here is a great video from www.homerepairtutor.com showing you the step by step how to get this project done.
