Install a Pocket Door!

A pocket door is a door that slides in to a cavity in the wall, rather than swinging it to a room, and taking up valuable space. A pocket door can save up to 10 sq feet of floor space where you can put furniture, a vanity in a bathroom or extra storage in a closet.

The first step in determining if there is room for a pocket door in your walls, is to determine what size door you wish to install. A pocket door needs 2x the door size of wall space than a swing door.

After measuring the wall, you then need to understand what may be inside the wall that may have to be moved or may prevent you from putting your door in, such as electric lines, switches or outlets, water pipes and the worst of all, sewer pipes, which are hard to move.
